MY BIGGEST INTERNSHIP INVESTMENT

When I was doing my internship at Etude de Style, Bell&Ross asked us to make a 3D commercial movie to promote new Bell&Ross watches. The concept car has been made at school by students, and Bell&Ross wanted us to highlight the car shapes in a 3D animation keeping the aviation universe. Thierry (my internship mentor) and I worked together on this movie during 3-4 months.

CAR MISSING PART MODELING

Jean-François Bozec

MY BIGGEST INTERNSHIP INVESTMENT

This project has been a big investment for me because Thierry was working on an other important project so he trust in me and in my skills, and let me work on many different aspect of this animation. The first step was to define what was missing on the car 3D model, and what we had to show or not. I worked on Alias to model extra parts like the engine or some details of the car interior.

ENVIRONMENT MODELING USING CINEMA 4D

HANGAR AND TUNNEL

We decided that the animation could take place in two different universe : an airplane hangar first, then a road tunnel. While Thierry was working on the hangar textures and HDRI, I worked on the tunnel full modeling. I also added extra 3D models to the hangar to make it look realistic.

TEXTURING AND LIGHTING USING CINEMA 4D

TEXTURING AND LIGHTING

Then while Thierry was working on the car texturing, I did the hangar lighting in different scenes. I managed the full tunnel texturing and lighting but we had some rendering problems because of the deadline. Physical lights were too long to render, so we had to create "fake" lights directly included in the wall texture using Photoshop.

CAMERA AND CAR ANIMATION USING CINEMA 4D

Jean-François Bozec

CAMERA AND CAR ANIMATION

The animation was the biggest part of my work on this project. First I animated the camera and lights in the hangar. I made a lot of different camera shots with different lighting and different angles. Then I animated the camera, the light and the car in the tunnel. I added "shakes" effect to make it more realistic (like if the Aero GT was filmed from another car).

MOVIE EDITION USING PREMIERE PRO

Jean-François Bozec

MOVIE EDITION

I used Premiere Pro from the beginning to the end of the project in order to test different camera shots, and to send it to Bell&Ross to have some feedbacks about it.

SOUND DESIGN USING LOGIC PRO X

Jean-François Bozec

SOUND DESIGN

Thanks to my music passion, I worked on sound design using Logic Pro X. It was a pleasure for me to use this software because my music universe followed me in my studies!

ETUDE DE STYLE TRUSTED IN MY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

I was really happy to work on that project with Thierry because he trusted in me, and it was the opportunity to work for a big brand, and the movie has been share during the Baselworld in Geneva, Switzerland. I had to respect client feedbacks and to work in autonomy, but I learned a lot during this project.

Thank you!
